First anniversary of Aeroflot-Cargo MD-11F freighter flight

4th June 2008 Aeroflot-Cargo airline made inaugural commercial flight on all-cargo MD-11F aircraft operating Moscow-Helsinki-Moscow route. Aeroflot-Cargo is the first Russian carrier operating this type of aircraft.

During the first three months another two aircraft were delivered and the new aircraft type was introduced to the whole freighter network by autumn 2008. All-cargo MD-11F uplifted 39500 tones of cargo last year; 14048 tons were carried in year 2009.

Before December 2008 Aeroflot-Cargo managed to fully change its freighter fleet. Airline is currently operating MD-11F to the following destinations: Almaty, Beijing, Frankfurt-Hahn, Helsinki, Hong Kong, Moscow, Mumbai, Novosibirsk, Shanghai, St. Petersburg, Seoul, and Tokyo. (Domestic flights are temporarily suspended.)

Flight safety at Aeroflot-Cargo is being kept at world standards level: safety rate was 99.993 per cent in year 2007, and 99,982% in year 2008. In accordance with ICAO requirements a new system – Flight Safety Management System (FSMS) was introduced in year 2009. Corporate management considers this part of company operations as a priority one and gives higher attention to flight planning and flight management. Airline top management realizing that flight safety is one of key indicators of carrier’s reputation.

4 June 2008 MD-11F (registration VP-BDQ) successfully landed by first pilot Michael N. Khizhnyak at 18:39 local time in Moscow. The airplane departs Moscow for Helsinki at 22:12 local time, landing in Helsinki was done at 19:34 UTC. Flights carried full payload.
