Hong Kong grants permission for transportation of dangerous goods

 

Aeroflot Cargo was granted permission by Hong Kong aviation authorities for transportation of dangerous goods. Permission is valid from March 11, 2008 and effective for all cargo flights operated by the airline to this destination.

At present, Aeroflot Cargo flies 4 cargo flights a week Moscow-Hong Kong and Hong Kong-Moscow (Hahn) on a DC-10 Freighter (max payload 62 ton). 

 

The airline is also already shipping dangerous goods to destinations in the UK, Germany, France, Finland, Japan and Korea on a scheduled basis. Service is provided in compliance with ICAO Technical Instructions DOC 9284 AN/905.

Dangerous goods are articles or substances which are capable of

posing a risk to health, safety, property or the environment and which are shown in the list of dangerous goods in the ICAO Technical Instructions for Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air (DOC 9284 AN/905) or which are classified according to those Instructions.

Dangerous goods may also include an object or substance which has no apparent relation to this category, e.g. tourist outfit (may contain flammable liquid or gas), powered devices, electric equipment, toys (may contain storage batteries, cells), medicines and vaccines, frozen or cooled food (packed using dry ice), etc.
